Privacy Policy

Who We Are
Spaceship Alpha 9 is an independent, bootstrapped studio based in Atlanta, Georgia, operated by Greg Chambers. This policy covers spaceshipalpha9.co and the data practices of this site. Questions go to zero@spacepiratezero.com.
Information We Collect
We collect what you choose to send us: your email address when you subscribe to Dispatches, and your name, email, and message when you use a contact form. We also collect anonymous usage analytics — page views, referral sources, and general device/browser information — through a privacy-conscious product analytics tool. We do not ask for, or want, sensitive personal information through this site.
How We Use It
Email addresses are used solely to send the Dispatches newsletter and to reply to inquiries you initiate. Analytics are used in aggregate to understand what's useful and improve the site. We never sell, rent, or trade your data, and we do not build advertising profiles or run cross-site ad tracking.
Analytics & Cookies
This site uses first-party product analytics and anonymous web-vitals measurement to understand performance and usage. These may set first-party cookies or local storage for measurement only — no advertising cookies and no third-party ad networks. You can block cookies in your browser without affecting core site functionality.
Our Apps
The Meatware apps for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV — including the App Clip and the Messages extension — have no accounts and no sign-up, show no advertising, carry no advertising identifiers, and do not track you across apps or websites. We never sell or share what they send us. Almost nothing they send is linked to your identity, and the one exception is the exception on purpose: if you write to the anchors and sign your name, that name is you, and we say so below rather than round it down. To show the guide and play an episode, the app requests public files from meatwarenightly.com, meatwareafterdark.com and Google Cloud Storage; like any web server, those keep standard request logs (such as IP address and time) for operating and securing the service, never for profiling. Links to news outlets open in your browser, under that outlet's own privacy policy.
What The Apps Measure
The apps send anonymous product analytics through PostHog, so we know which shows and episodes people actually open and what to make more of. Each event records what happened and nothing about who did it: which station or episode was opened, whether it was played, whether the receipts were read, whether a share or a link was used, and which platform it came from. If you send the studio a high five, that event records which tip it was and the price your App Store showed — never your payment details, which Apple handles and never shares with us. There is no user profile, no screen recording, no automatic capture of what you tap, and no identifier that follows you anywhere else. These numbers are not linked to your identity and are never used to track you. Analytics are enabled only in released builds; development builds send nothing.
Notifications & The Mailbag
If you allow notifications, the app sends us the anonymous push token Apple issues for that device — it goes to our own server and nowhere else, it identifies a device and never you, it is used only to send breaking-news alerts, and declining or turning notifications off in Settings stops it. If you send the anchors a question — from the Studio tab in the app, from the Apple TV app, or from the Messages extension — we receive the question, the name you choose to include (which may be nothing), and which show it is for; we keep it so the writers' room can read it and the anchors can answer it on air. A name you give us IS linked to you, because you are asking to be named on air; it is the only thing either app sends that identifies a person. We do not ask for or want your email, phone number or account details, and we never publish anything but the question and the name you gave us. Email & Newsletter
When you subscribe, your address is forwarded to our email delivery provider and retained on the Dispatches list until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can request removal at any time by emailing zero@spacepiratezero.com.
Data Storage & Security
Site infrastructure runs on Google Cloud (Cloud Run and Google Kubernetes Engine) under standard security controls. Data in transit is encrypted over HTTPS. We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purpose you provided it, or until you ask us to delete it.
Third-Party Services & Links
This site links out to external platforms — Substack, Spotify, Apple, Amazon, LinkedIn, GitHub, Instagram, Bluesky, X, and our sister sites. Once you leave spaceshipalpha9.co, the destination's own privacy policy governs your data. We are not responsible for the practices of external services.
Your Rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data you've shared with us. Email zero@spacepiratezero.com and we will honor verified requests within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA — we extend these rights to everyone.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date below. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
